Our Business

Wall to Wall Plants started in 2024, but my passion for growing things goes back a lifetime. Growing up on a smallholding, life was simple—early mornings, hands in the soil, and the satisfaction of watching something grow. Propagation, seed sowing, and taking cuttings were just part of daily life, taught to me by my father and grandfather, who always believed, "If you care for the land, it will provide." Those happy, simple times instilled in me a deep respect for nature and a love for growing plants the right way—with patience, dedication, and a hands-on approach.

Wall, Staffordshire, near Lichfield—a tiny village with a big history! Once the site of Letocetum, an ancient Roman posting station, which also inspired the name of our nursery.

As our nursery is appointment-only, we don’t have set opening hours. However, we are available to arrange visits or answer queries during standard business hours. Please contact us via mobile on 07802 721607 or email peter@walltowallplants.com.

We are committed to growing plants in a way that’s better for the environment. Every single plant, seed, and cutting is nurtured by hand, ensuring it thrives from the very start. We grow all our plants in peat-free compost, helping to protect natural peatlands and promote more sustainable gardening. Wherever possible, we reuse plastic pots to reduce waste and keep materials in circulation for longer.

We also use eco-friendly packaging to minimise our environmental footprint. Many of our plants are specially chosen for their ability to support pollinators, creating wildlife-friendly gardens that attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

Planting & Growing Tips

As soon as your plants arrive, unpack them carefully and give them a good drink of water. If you’re not planting straight away, keep them in a sheltered spot outdoors with good airflow and out of direct, harsh sunlight. If they look a little tired from their journey, don’t worry—plants perk up quickly with water and fresh air.

Autumn is ideal for planting perennials as the soil is still warm, encouraging strong root growth before winter. This helps them establish well and burst into life in spring. That said, spring planting works too, especially for tender perennials—just be sure to keep them well-watered through their first summer.

Annuals are best planted in spring after the risk of frost has passed, giving them a full growing season to flower. Hardy annuals like calendula and cornflowers can be sown in autumn for an earlier display the following year. Bulbs follow their own rules—spring-flowering bulbs like tulips and daffodils go in during autumn, while summer-flowering bulbs like dahlias and lilies are planted in spring once the soil warms up.
