Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ is a modern classic – an incredibly floriferous perennial that produces a cloud of vibrant tangerine-orange flowers over a long period from late spring into summer (and often again in autumn if deadheaded). The semi-double blooms are held on tall, wiry stems above a low mound of fresh green, slightly hairy foliage. Upright, airy, and full of movement, this Geum adds a soft, graceful presence to borders and container displays.

  • Height: 70–90cm (in flower)
  • Spread: 40–50cm

Plant in full sun or light shade in fertile, free-draining soil. Geums dislike sitting in wet conditions over winter, so improve drainage if your soil is heavy. Water well to establish, then allow to dry slightly between watering. Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat flowering and cut back spent stems after the first flush. Divide every few years to rejuvenate the clump and keep it vigorous.

Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ works beautifully towards the front or middle of mixed borders, where its warm orange tones lift surrounding planting. It pairs well with grasses like Stipa tenuissima, blues and purples like Salvia nemorosa or Nepeta, and other soft perennials such as Astrantia or Geranium ‘Rozanne’. In containers, try it with soft pastels or dark foliage for contrast.
